The head of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Canada’s foreign affairs and public safety ministers will be summoned to testify before a House of Commons committee over explosive allegations made this week about Indian interference in Canada.

The national security committee agreed to summon the commissioner of GRC Mike Duheme as well as Mélanie Joly and Dominic LeBlanc during a special meeting this morning.

NDP MP Alistair MacGregor introduced the motion to convene days after Canada expelled six Indian diplomats following allegations they worked with criminal organizations to target Sikh separatists in Canada.

India has denied the allegations and expelled six Canadian diplomats from New Delhi.

MPs are also debating a second motion that calls for all party leaders to request top-secret security clearance and demands that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau release the names in secret documents on parliamentarians who would be involved or at risk of being involved in foreign interference.

At the inquiry into foreign interference this week, Mr. Trudeau claimed that Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre had refused to obtain permission to see the names of Conservatives in these documents, while Mr. Poilievre accused the Prime Minister to lie and demanded that he make all the names public.
