Médina Yéro Foulah (Kolda), October 17 (APS) – The Support Program for Communes and Agglomerations of Senegal (PACASEN) injected nearly 300 million CFA francs into the commune of Médina Yéro Foulah, in the Kolda region ( south), APS learned from an official source.

”The commune of Medina Yéro Foulah benefited from nearly 300 million CFA francs for the construction of infrastructure comprising, among other things, schools, a bus station, a multifunctional stadium, women’s mills, support in the health sector, etc.”, declared, Thursday, the head of the communications unit at the Municipal Development Agency (ADM), Alassane Diallo.

He was speaking at the end of a field visit initiated by ADM and PACASEN as part of the third week of the communication and awareness campaign on the achievements made in partner municipalities, such as Medina Yéro Foulah , during the last five years.

PACASEN is an initiative of the government of Senegal, launched in 2018, to support the operationalization of decentralization in more than 120 municipalities in the country.

”PACASEN is a real innovation in the sense that it obtains results with concrete investments which have an impact on the populations,” rejoiced Alassane Diallo.

To benefit from PACASEN support, he added, the target municipalities must meet certain criteria to be eligible.

”PACASEN covers 124 pilot municipalities, including Medina Yéro Foulah, which must respect a certain number of criteria to benefit from its support. We are here to see and note the achievements made with the investments in the municipality, which make us satisfied, especially because of their impact on the populations,” said the head of the ADM communications unit. .

The commune of Medina Yéro Foulah has thus benefited from the support and support of PACASEN since 2019, of the order of nearly 300 million CFA francs.

”This support from PACASEN has made it possible to build a lot of infrastructure, particularly in the areas of health, education, sport, transport, hydraulics, etc.”, listed Mayor Médina Yéro Foulah, Kalidou Sy, adding that ”this has positively changed the face of the commune”.

He took the opportunity to announce prospects in carrying out development projects for young people and women through agricultural farms, the construction of a weekly market with sheds, putting local human capital at the heart of development of the municipality.

With a budget of 130 billion CFA francs over five years, PACASEN, which should end in December 2024, has been extended for a period of two years to allow local authorities to complete the achievements made under this project.
