A regional canicross troop defends the colors of Switzerland

Jurassians and their dogs facing the best on the planet. Séverine Boillat and the four members of her canicross team are participating this weekend in Italy in the World Championships in the discipline. The training led by the Franc-Montagnarde is part of the Swiss delegation which has around forty representatives. The competition is held in Bardonecchia, Piedmont, and welcomes some 900 competitors from all over the world. “The global level is really super high,” warns Séverine Boillat. The Jura troop, which remains with convincing results in the Swiss championship, plans to join the Italian resort this Tuesday. A demanding journey awaits him. “We had the chance to race there in April. We know that it will be very physical because we go up on an alpine ski slope and come back down a downhill bike trail with the dogs,” explains the captain of the regional “Blackpearl” team.

This year, Séverine Boillat has the pleasure of going to the Worlds with her entire group made up of the Péchin family (Christopher the dad, Laura and Lenzo the children) and Léane Wyssen. “It was also a motivation to pay tribute to our dog Simba who we lost in December. We really want to shine and fight together,” she notes. Between Saturday and Sunday, members of the Franc-Montagnarde team will compete in canicross, bikejöring (mountain bike) and scooter (scooter) competitions.

Other regional players still fill the ranks of the Swiss team. Thierry Charmillot, Alexandre Fay, Barbara Riebli, José Tena, Fanny Gubelmann and Loan Steiner will also participate in the Canicross World Championships. /nmy
