This weekend, the Bulles en Seyne festival is writing a new page in its history

An unmissable event for meeting comic book authors, getting a sumptuous signing and stocking up on bubbles, the festival organized by the Seynoise association Au Tour de la BD is also full of new releases this year.

“Last year, explains Frank Camous, president of the organizing association, the festival did not take place because we needed time to remobilize the troops and take stock, particularly on the financing of Bulles en Seyne because its organization depends on the subsidies we can receive. However, very often, they are allocated to us after June, the usual date of the festival. After reflection, we therefore decided to postpone this meeting until the fall, in order to have more visibility on our budget.”

But organizing the festival in October means being more exposed to the vagaries of the weather. This is why Bulles en Seyne will not take place this weekend at the Parc de la Navale, but at the Bourse du travail, made available to the organizers by the City, partner of the event.

Olivier Berlion honorary president

“This yearcontinues Frank Camous, our honorary president is Olivier Berlion, a talented designer but a little underestimated because he does not necessarily meet with the success he deserves. A prolific author, he notably signed two very interesting series, Tony Corso (the story of a detective) and Agata (about the Italian mafia in the United States in the 1930s). Very anchored in childhood and in histoire des gens, Olivier also did the adaptation of The war of buttons“.

As usual, the honorary president was asked to create the festival poster. And the result is as attractive as it is surprising. We see one of the heroes of Berlion (Tony Corso), from behind, walking with family near Fort Balaguier and admiring in the distance… the lift bridge! “It is an unusual image, impossible even, but it is an artistic view which meets our specifications since we require the author to include the bridge, symbol of our city, on the poster”explains Frank Camous.

Among the twenty invited authors, screenwriters, designers and colorists (1)other names should attract the crowd.

The return of Captain Flam

Starting with Alexis Tallone, who everyone is eager for because his latest production delights thirty-somethings as well as fifty-somethings: it is of course Captain Flamwhich he will sign on Sunday (he is not available on Saturday). The festival also welcomes Christophe Cazenove “who notably scripts the series The Sisters. He’s coming to Bulles en Seyne for the first time, but we’ve been fighting to get him for four years and we’re delighted that he’s here. “, adds the organizer.

Furthermore, almost a quarter of the invited authors are from the , such as Aurélie Guarino, Laolyth and Elleana (manga authors) and Olivier Lubrano.

“Due to a smaller space than at the Naval Park, we will only have one bookseller present, in this case Leclerc who is one of our important patrons this year, completes Frank Camous. There is also a single second-hand bookseller from whom everyone can buy second-hand books and complete their collections. Self-publishers of fanzines will also be present, among whom the talents of tomorrow are hidden. Without forgetting a stand of products derived from the festival (t-shirts, posters, ex-libris, etc.).” Finally, the organizer reminds that purchasing a book on site will allow you to obtain a ticket to participate, Saturday and Sunday, in a draw to win various gifts. “Buy the books on site, he concludes, it’s still supporting the festival, entry to which is free.”

Activities and exhibitions

On Saturday, from 11:30 a.m., the festival awards ceremony will take place at the Labor Exchange, with the announcement of the president of the next edition. And during the two days, visitors will be able to discover the interest of the new partnership established by Au Tour de la BD with the association Les yeux dans les jeux.

“This will offer everyone the chance to play with a selection of board games related to the world of comics,” says Frank Camous. And on Sunday afternoon, we will have the pleasure of welcoming the creators of the Lanfeust de Troy board game.”

At the same time, and until the end of October, comic book fans can discover the exhibition “The Universe of Olivier Berlion” at the Chedid media library where original works by the festival’s honorary president are presented.

“In addition,” adds the organizer, “the festival will continue exceptionally during the month of November, in partnership with the Women’s Festival. The Perrin gallery will host an exhibition of originals by Jung. And on Wednesday, November 6, the documentary Everything That Connects Us, by Jung and Laëtitia Marty, will be screened free of charge at the Le Rocher cinema in . The screening will be followed by a meeting with the authors and a signing of their works Nos adoptions. »
