Drug trafficking: a man arrested in Shawinigan

A man was arrested Thursday in Shawinigan as part of a police operation linked to drug trafficking.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec station in the City of Shawinigan, in collaboration with the SQ’s Organized Crime Investigation and Coordination Division, arrested a 24-year-old man for drug trafficking, possession of drugs in sight of trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons.

He remained detained to appear at the Shawinigan courthouse on October 11, the SQ reported Thursday in a press release.

During the search, which took place around 3 p.m. on the 3rd floor of a home on avenue de Grand-Mère, the police seized 80 grams of Crystal Meth, more than 1,100 methamphetamine tablets, 1 air pistol loaded tablet (imitation Glock weapon), a telescopic baton, $945 in Canadian money, bags for resale and scales.

Around ten police officers and an SQ dog handler participated in this intervention.
