: in Mantes-la-Ville, an autistic boy “kicked out” of his school

This Thursday morning, Jassim, 7 years old, will not go to school. He will stay at home, surrounded by his mother and father, in their house in Mantes-la-Ville (). And it has been like this since September 30, since his parents received a very official “certificate of radiation” signed by the director of the Armand-Gaillard school. Since then, they have been engaged in a race against time to find a new base for the eldest of their three children. “Everyone is passing the buck, we run into walls, we go in circles,” thunder Samir, 46, and his wife Nezha, 35.

This radiation crowns years of difficulty in Jassim’s care. Faced with certain traits of his behavior, a professional put forward, from a very young age, the hypothesis of “autism spectrum disorders” (ASD). The term, often misused, takes on its full importance here: the little boy is not formally autistic but he presents characteristics specific to autism. He is therefore not sufficiently affected to justify schooling in a specialized institute but he is affected enough to have to be supervised, in a traditional school, by a specialized support person (AESH). This was the case during his kindergarten years.
