Premiere of “Chiendent”: Mégan Brouillard triumphs hands down

Biting and authentic, Mégan Brouillard proved that she deserved her place on the big comedy stages, Tuesday, during the launch of Quackgrasshis first career solo show.

Even though Mégan Brouillard graduated from the National School of Humor only four years ago, she has nothing to envy of the veterans in her field. The 25-year-old comedian, who made a name for himself thanks to social networks and his appearances in major media, was right in his place in front of the Albert-Rousseau room.

We expected cringe jokes, thrown in an uninhibited manner, and no one was disappointed.

A proud native of Drummondville, the young sensation did not hesitate to exploit the stereotypes of the “regions”. Yes, foul language and swearing were part of his recipe, but they were not his only weapons. Her facial expressions and the precision with which she delivered her jokes could have won the hearts of the audience alone. They slapped their thighs when she talked about her brother’s first name, her menstrual cycle, her celibacy, or the differences between “riding a horse” and “riding horses” for a girl of the same age. middle class like her.

She wasn’t a finalist in the Discovery of the Year category at the last Les Olivier Gala for nothing.

Smokers, pillars of society

It’s difficult to pinpoint negative points in this first solo show by Mégan Brouillard, directed by her colleague Matthieu Pepper, but certain segments clearly hit harder than others.

We think in particular of his long, but very comical monologue on smokers. Don’t think she was talking about this bad habit in a negative way. According to the comedian, smokers are part of the pillars of our society. From one end to the other of this number, which she concluded with a delicious tale recited in her own style from a book installed on her tripod, everyone was laughing heartily. Her stories about her friends in relationships and her jokes about old people had a similar effect.

Beyond her humor, Mégan Brouillard was endearing, natural and charismatic. She fully deserved the warm standing ovation she received as the curtain fell.

Mégan Brouillard will hit the road towards Saguenay for a show on October 9, then head towards Saint-Hyacinthe and Sainte-Thérèse on October 10 and 18. She will then go to the Le Gesù hall in Montreal on October 22 and 23.
