Meanwhile, snow is coming to Quebec

Published on October 8, 2024 at 8:54 p.m.

The descent of cold air is doing its work in Quebec. Forecast.

Gray and cold week

The week promises to be quite disrupted in several regions of Quebec. A high altitude trough well above the province is causing the mercury to drop to such a point that some northern areas may receive snow. At present, there is no talk of significant accumulations. This Tuesday morning, melting snowflakes fell in the northwest of the province. We observed a mark on the ground on the Matagami side.

Snow Occasions

This cold and snowy streak is expected to continue until the weekend in the north of the province and in mountainous regions. There will be other opportunities for snow, including Thursday and Saturday. Snowflakes are anticipated north of Saguenay as well as at the border of Quebec and Labrador.

October snow

Between now and Sunday, light accumulations of snow are forecast in northern Quebec and in mountainous terrain. In particular, the sectors of Monts-Valin, the Laurentides wildlife reserve and the Chic-Chocs mountains could end up with a thin white carpet. Residents of northern regions are used to receiving snow from the beginning of October. In the south of the province, the first snowfalls occur towards the end of the month, on average.
