– Avenches becomes the tenth Vaud commune in gold

The Roman city is the first Vaud municipality of less than 10,000 inhabitants to join the best in terms of energy management.

Avenches has just obtained Gold certification from the “Cité de l’énergie” label.

Certified “City of Energy” since 2010, the Municipality of Avenches received the prestigious Gold label this fall. With a score of 78.6 points out of 100, it is the first Vaud municipality of less than 10,000 inhabitants to join the circle of the best Swiss and European cities in terms of resource management. In total, 101 Swiss municipalities have this label, including 10 in the canton of Vaud.

In addition to energy monitoring of municipal assets and the renovation of buildings, Avenches recently created an educational garden and set up the “Ecobonus” subsidy program. The label award ceremony in the presence of the cantonal and regional authorities as well as the French-speaking municipalities labeled Gold in 2024 will take place on Friday December 13 as part of the Avenches Christmas Village.
