the regrouping of the “Lions” starts this Monday in Diamniadio

The gathering of the Senegal national team for this October window of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) begins this Monday in Diamniadio. The “Lions” begin their regrouping towards the double confrontation against Malawi.

Life without Aliou Cissé begins for La Tanière after having lived 9 years and 6 months under the thumb of El Tactico. A first training session could take place this Monday afternoon at the annexed Diamniadio field, as is traditionally the case.

Of the 26 “Lions” summoned, only Ismail Jakobs will be missing. Even if there is an imbroglio over his injury, he is already replaced on the list by Abdou Aziz Ndiaye from Jaraaf.

The first meeting will take place on October 11, 2024 at 7 p.m. GMT at the Stade Abdoulaye Wade. Four days later, on October 15, 2024, Senegal will travel to Malawi, at the Bingu National Stadium.

After obtaining a draw (1-1) against Burkina Faso in Dakar and a narrow victory against Burundi (1-0), the “Lions” currently occupy second place in group L. They will have to win these two matches to reinvigorate their journey in qualifying.

Burkina Faso occupies first place in Group L with 4 points (+2), thanks to a better goal difference than Senegal (2nd, 4 points, +1). Burundi (3rd, 3 points) and Malawi (4th, 0 points) bring up the rear.

Burkina Faso will face Burundi in this double confrontation.
