Several security work will take place on the RD 178 at North-sur-Erdre (Loire-Atlantique), from Monday October 7, 2024until October 31, 2024.

Loire-Atlantique: several security works

The Loire-Atlantique department will carry out development work on hamlets of La Bruère and L’Isleon the RD 178.

For four weeks, workers will install “half-round” curbs on each side of the road. They are going reduce track width. They will take the geometry of the already existing chicanes, by making them more restrictive. And finally, they will work towards a road repair degraded.

The objectives of this security work are to:

• reduce speed of users
• improve visibility of the different crossroads in the crossing of La Bruère
• continue the pedestrian paths throughout the crossing of the Island
• secure pedestrian crossings at bus stops
• improve road grip by renewing the wearing course

A road closed for 4 weeks

In order to work safely on this axis which supports “ traffic of 5,296 vehicles per day »of the restrictions traffic restrictions will be imposed.

From Monday 7 to Thursday 31 October 2024the RD 178 will be closed to traffic between Petit-Mars (crossroads with the RD31) and Nort-sur-Erdre (roundabout with the RD164), for the construction of the wearing course at the level of the two hamlets.

Diversions put in place

Secondly, from Monday 4 to Friday 8 November 2024still full-time, traffic conditions will be modified according to the following provisions:

• The direction Nort-sur-Erdre towards Petit-Mars will be deviated by the RD 164 to the commune of Les Touches, then by the RD 31 to the commune of Petit-Mars.
• The Petit-Mars direction towards Nort-sur-Erdre will be deviated by the RD 31 to the commune of Les Touches then the RD 164 to the commune of Nort-sur-Erdre.

Please note that only local and business access will be maintained.

As a reminder, the amount of this modernization and security operation, entirely funded by the Departmentamounts to293 000 € TTC.
