SENEGAL-COMMUNITIES- SANITATION / “Sétal sunu reew”: the “low mobilization” deplored in Sédhiou – Senegalese press agency

Sédhiou, Oct 5 (APS) – The governor of the Sédhiou region (south), Diadia Dia, expressed Saturday his concern over the “low mobilization” observed during the 5th edition of the national clean-up day, “Sétal sunu reew”, dedicated to schools.

“The weak mobilization that we observed today is worrying and calls for collective reflection,” he lamented, launching this day’s activities at the Balla Moussa Daffé high school in the commune of Sédhiou.

The governor urged community leaders, local associations and citizens to “redouble their efforts” for future editions of this national day.

Mr. Dia stressed the importance of citizen participation for the success of such initiatives. “The national day +Sétal sunu reew+ aims to strengthen our commitment to sanitation and the cleanliness of our environment,” he said.

“Sétal sunu reew Day is an opportunity for all of us to show our commitment to our environment and our community,” added the governor of the Sédhiou region.

”It is important that the population understands that this day is not only intended for state agents. It is an initiative that requires the active participation of the entire community. Every citizen, regardless of their status or profession, has a role to play in improving our environment,” he insisted.

In addition, added the head of the territorial executive, “this day is an opportunity for all of us to unite and work together for a cleaner and healthier future”.

Mr. Dia believes that “the mobilization of everyone is essential to achieve common objectives and strengthen the bonds of solidarity within the community”.

He recalled that this fifth edition of the national cleaning day coincides with the resumption of classes, which led the government to give specific instructions to clean educational establishments, according to him.

It is in this context, he underlined, that the Balla Moussa Daffé high school was chosen to host the national day “Sétal sunu reew” bringing together all the stakeholders concerned, in order to make schools more liveable and welcoming. for the students.

Diadia DIA also recalled that all educational establishments in the region are in deep cleaning operation, thus guaranteeing a healthy environment conducive to a good start to classes.
