SENEGAL-SOCIAL / Announced deployment of thirty-four new labor inspectors and controllers – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Oct 4 (APS) – Thirty-four labor inspectors and controllers will be deployed across the country to fill the shortage of personnel in the sector, Yankhoba Diémé, the Minister of Labor, announced Friday in Dakar. Employment and Relations with Institutions.

”Yesterday I signed the order assigning thirty-four new labor inspectors and controllers, in particular eleven inspectors and twenty-three labor controllers to strengthen the staff and fill a gap at the territorial level,” he assured.

Yankhoba Diémé made this announcement while taking part in the opening of the general assembly for the renewal of the governing bodies of the Institution for the Coordination of Compulsory Health Insurance (ICAMO).

He insisted on the importance of strengthening the role of provident institutions in a country.

”Institutions such as the Social Security Fund, ICAMO, and the Senegal Retirement Insurance Institute (IPRES) can, like other countries, be locomotives in terms of financing,” said hear Mr. Diémé.

He reiterated the ambition of the new authorities to increase the contribution of such structures in the development of an endogenous economy.

”Beyond the purpose for which they were set up, we believe that these institutions can strongly contribute to the development of an endogenous economy,” noted Yankhoba Diémé.

He assured that reforms would be undertaken to strengthen the functioning of these structures in terms of legal instruments, strengthening of staff and logistics.

“As part of universal health coverage, we need to rationalize overall, but also to join all the services that intervene at this level,” underlined the Minister of Labor.

For example, he mentioned the fact that certain services were divided between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Family.
