Wrong week, wrong events, the minister got confused this Friday morning.
This is called getting your feet wet! The new Minister of Education Anne Genetet did a great job this Friday, October 4. She was interviewed on RTL this morning and asked about the possible commemoration of October 7 in schools, the date which marks the first anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel…. She responded in the affirmative and announced a “time of contemplation and work” on secularism in schools on that date. Except that’s not exactly it…
A few minutes later, the ministry sent a correction to the radio, indicates RTL. The mobilization will not take place this Monday, October 7, but the following week on October 14 or 15.
The minister has in fact confused it with the tribute to Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard, two teachers killed in Islamist attacks which is to be held in mid-October in schools. In addition, the system is not new since it already took place last year.
