Firefighting: Switzerland delivers equipment to Ukraine worth 5.6 million

Thirty machines to evacuate rubble and thirty pumps to fight fires: this is the equipment that Switzerland will deliver to Ukraine in the coming days. The total value of these goods amounts to 5.6 million francs.

Since the start of the war, the SDC, here its director Patrizia Danzi, has transported nearly 1,200 tonnes of relief material to Ukraine (archives).

The Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will finance and organize the transport, which will be carried out by rail for ecological reasons, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) said in a press release on Friday. A train chartered by the SDC will leave Switzerland in the coming days. It will take several days to arrive in Ukraine.

The handling equipment for clearing rubble and rubble and the water pumps for extinguishing fires are donated by the Federal Department of Defense (DDPS). They will be handed over to the civil defense of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

Switzerland had already delivered such equipment in October 2022, recalls the FDFA.
