A retired couple was fatally hit by a vehicle while walking in La Meignanne, a delegated commune of Longuenée-en-Anjou.
The events took place on a long straight line at the entrance to the town. The mayor of the town said that the two hikers lost their lives.

A great moment of collective emotion

Aged 81 and 78, the victims are known in the small town of 2,200 inhabitants. According to the mayor of Longuenée-en-Anjou, Jean-Pierre Hébé, the driver in her forties is also a resident of the town. She was hospitalized in a state of shock, as were local residents who witnessed this incident. “For us, it is a great moment of collective emotion“, underlined the city councilor.

Opening an investigation

An investigation was opened and entrusted to the community gendarmerie brigade of Lion-d’.
The public prosecutor, Eric Bouillard, indicated that the results of the alcohol and drug screening on the driver were negative. According to initial testimonies, the latter would have swerved before the collision.
