LafargeHolcim Maroc, leader in the construction materials sector, Enactus, an international organization dedicated to social entrepreneurship, and the Social Innovation Lab (SIL) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) organized an unprecedented hackathon focused on sustainable construction . This event took place from September 27 to 28, 2024 and brought together students, entrepreneurs, and professionals from various backgrounds to imagine and design innovative solutions for more environmentally friendly construction.
This hackathon, a real challenge for the participants, aimed to respond to the environmental challenges of the construction sector while promoting innovation and social entrepreneurship.
During two intense days, the multidisciplinary teams worked on concrete projects around sustainability, ranging from the insulation of energy-intensive buildings to the recycling of materials through digitalization.
These projects were presented to a jury of experts from industry, sustainable development, social innovation as well as architects and topographers and evaluated according to criteria such as innovation, technical and economic feasibility and environmental impact. The three best projects were awarded and will benefit from support by the Sustainable Construction Lab of LafargeHolcim Maroc, Enactus and the Social Innovation Lab of UM6P for their incubation and implementation.

The construction sector represents a significant share of CO2 emissions, making it a major issue in the fight against climate change. LafargeHolcim Morocco, in collaboration with Enactus and the SIL of UM6P, is committed to promoting innovative and socially responsible practices, which make it possible to build in a more sustainable way, by reducing the carbon footprint, by promoting the circular economy, and using ecological materials.

This hackathon is part of a broader approach to supporting the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in Morocco. By collaborating with strategic partners such as Enactus and the SIL of UM6P, LafargeHolcim Morocco actively contributes to the creation of startups and the emergence of young entrepreneurs who carry out projects with a strong social and environmental impact.
