On High Royal Instructions, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, received Tuesday at the headquarters of this Administration, Vice-Admiral Edward Ahlgren, British Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East. East and North Africa, on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During this meeting, which took place in the presence of the British ambassador accredited to Rabat, the two officials reviewed the state of regional security and bilateral cooperation relations in the field of defense, indicates the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in a press release.
The discussions focused particularly on examining ways and means to further boost this cooperation, particularly in terms of interoperability and the exchange of experience and expertise between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
During these discussions, the British Advisor praised the important role of the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, in the service of regional peace and stability.
The same day, and in execution of the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the South Zone , received, at the level of the General Staff of the FAR in Rabat, Vice-Admiral Edward Ahlgren, adds the press release.
The two officials discussed different areas of bilateral cooperation between the Royal Armed Forces and the British Armed Forces. This cooperation covers training, the exchange of visits and experiences, and the organization of combined exercises. On this occasion, the Lieutenant General expressed the firm desire of the Royal Armed Forces to continue working to further promote military cooperation with the British Armed Forces, and also to expand it to other areas of interest common, including intelligence, border surveillance, electronic warfare and cyber defense. Moroccan-British military cooperation is governed by the Framework Agreement for Military and Technical Cooperation signed in 1993, as well as Technical Arrangements focused mainly on strategic consultation, training and knowledge exchange, and especially regular training. as part of joint exercises, such as “Jbel Sahara”, “Toubkal” and “African Lion”. The bilateral activities to be undertaken are scheduled according to a timetable established by a joint commission which is held annually and alternately in Rabat and London, the press release concludes.
