Montreal has no illusions. It will certainly be difficult to compete with Boston in terms of physical play, but Kori Cheverie’s team is convinced of having other assets to emerge victorious from this first elimination round.

For the first elimination round, fans will be treated to one of the oldest and greatest rivalries in hockey history: Montreal against Boston. For the Quebecois members of the team, facing this city has a special flavor. But for all the players and the coaching staff, it will be another page of history that will be written. For the majority, this will be the first series three of five of their career.

I’m happy to be part of it,” said head coach Kori Cheverie. This is another opportunity for our team to receive some love from the city. I think it will be a fierce battle.

Last Saturday’s match in Boston, lost at the very end of the clash, set the table for this series which promises to be intense and robust. Laura Stacey was particularly bullied on numerous occasions and we could even see the power forward losing patience.

I admit that I saw red. It doesn’t happen to me often. When you’re competitive, when you’re in the heat of the moment, when you want to win, you may react. Obviously, I wouldn’t have foughtassured the attacker.

I don’t see how it could be more physical to be honestStacey said, with a smile on her face and no doubt, with a few bruises in memory of Saturday. When your season is on the line, when you can win a championship, it will definitely be on another level.

While Boston is probably the most physical team in the LPHF, head coach Kori Cheverie believes her team has other qualities that have allowed it to stand out since the start of the season. Resilience is certainly one of them.

I don’t think it’s necessarily our style of play to be physical at all times, but I think it’s our style to be aggressive, to get rebounds, to get back on defense when necessary.

However, Boston should not be taken lightly. After a rather quiet season, Hilary Knight had an excellent home stretch. It was she who opened the brand last Saturday, at the Tsongas Center. The Montreal players know very well that the opposing captain still has all the assets to change the outcome of a match single-handedly.

We will have to be ready. Our attackers will have to be ready. She is big and difficult to move. She has excellent eye and hand coordination. She moves the puck well. She can do anything. She’s definitely a player we’ll have to keep an eye onindicated the Montreal coach.

The Montreal team proved that it had excellent young players and was particularly fast. With Ann-Renée Desbiens and Marie-Philip Poulin, Montreal may seem, in the eyes of many, the big favorite to win this series, but we shouldn’t expect it to be a smooth ride.

Poulin and his team have demonstrated more than once that having a sense of drama is part of their DNA.

Montreal will train again Wednesday morning, before playing its first match Thursday evening at Place Bell in Laval.
