LE VIGAN Simulation of accident this Wednesday in the Alzon road tunnel

The prefecture reminds you of the safety instructions to follow.

At the initiative of the Gard Departmental Council and in conjunction with the Gard prefecture, a civil security exercise will take place on Wednesday October 2, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., in the Alzon road tunnel linking Gard to Aveyron. The services of the Departmental Council, the municipality of Alzon, and the emergency and security services of Gard and those of Aveyron will test their coordination to strengthen the safety of users using this structure.

Under the direction of Anne Levasseur, sub-prefect of the Vigan district, this exercise will simulate a traffic accident in the tunnel between a light vehicle and a minibus resulting in several injuries. Many services will participate: SDIS 30 and 12, departmental gendarmerie groups 30 and 12, Departmental Council 30 and 12, SAMU 30, Alzon town hall, Gard and Aveyron prefectures and French Red Cross 30.

The three objectives pursued are:

  • check the proper functioning of the alert means, the delays in transmitting the alert and intervention of the emergency services and the gendarmerie,
  • test the perfect functioning of telephone and radio communications of the emergency services,
  • train the emergency services and security forces of Gard and Aveyron to work together and thus promote interdepartmental coordination of all stakeholders.

Heavy goods vehicles using the tunnel are asked to avoid the area and adapt their route accordingly. For light vehicles, a diversion will be put in place via RD 158 C. As this is a civil security exercise, everyone is asked not to spread false rumors and to respect the safety instructions present on the site.
