Coupe de France (4th round): Cahors FC with heads held high

In this 4th round of the French Cup, the Cadurcians held out to the Blagnac team which plays in Nationale 3, narrowly losing 3 to 2. The public, who came in large numbers for this poster, attended a real cup match with commitment, twists and turns and suspense.
Blagnac, favorite, had, as expected, control of the ball, trying to circulate the ball well. The Cadurcians showed a lot of discipline and respected their game plan. During the first half hour, Blagnac had a great opportunity stopped by Courtes, the Lotois goalkeeper. On a free kick on the right side, Abitteboul’s center is taken by Latière with a header who opens the scoring. At the break, it was Jean-François Barros’ players who led with the score 1-0.
Blagnac gets off to a flying start again, and from a corner, Gauthier manages to equalize. The efforts made by the Lotois will be further reinforced after the exclusion of Latière at the hour mark for a second yellow. The visitors will obtain a penalty converted by Quenet. At ten against eleven, the Lotois continued to fight on all the balls and came back to 2-2 on a cross deflected into the goal by a Toulouse defender.
Short-lived advantage because Zalmate with a precise strike gives Blagnac the advantage 3-2.
Not wanting to give up and pushed by the public despite a great outburst of energy, the Cadurciens will go to the end of themselves and will obtain one last big opportunity, the recovery of Veiga being released by the Blagnac goalkeeper.
