Longueuil police are investigating a nebulous case of attempted murder in which a man was shot in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, before being located two hours later, in another city, still alive.
Several citizens contacted 911 around 11:30 p.m. to report gunshots on Deslières Street, not far from Clairevue Boulevard West, in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, an area where events of this nature are rather rare.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found that a shooting had indeed broken out at this location, but did not locate any victims.
A message was therefore transmitted to the surrounding police forces, to advise them that they were looking for a person potentially injured by a projectile from a firearm.
Two hours later, in the Carignan sector, police officers from the Richelieu Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police board intervened with a man in his forties who had been shot in the upper and lower parts of his body.
The checks have established that this man was indeed the victim of an attempted murder earlier in the evening in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.
The 40-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Tuesday morning, the authorities still did not know the reason for the crime.
No arrests have yet been made in this nebulous case.
