The fire is currently located about 10 kilometers north of the City, but it is possible that it will continue to approach it to eventually reach it, because the area affected by the fire has increased in recent hours.

“It is not excluded that it could happen, but we are working very hard to work on the strategic corners which can prevent [le feu] move forward,” said SOPFEU spokesperson Isabelle Gariépy.

A major fire is also still raging near Chapais, where the number of evacuees has risen to 800 since Wednesday evening.

Although these residents were preemptively relocated, they have still not been able to return to their homes.

Public Health is calling for caution in these two cities regarding the deterioration of air quality due to smoke.
