Family conflict imported from Kosovo turned into tragedy
At the end of 2022, the village of Bière was the scene of a tragedy which cost the life of a 28-year-old man. His uncle is charged with murder for fighting back.

Two months after the events that occurred in December 2022, the gendarmerie carried out a reconstruction on the road which leads in particular from the village to the parade ground, near the home of the man accused of the murder of his nephew.

This is the tragic observation that emerges from the events which took place in Bière just before Christmas 2022 and for which the alleged murderer – a Kosovar aged today 57 – will have to answer before the La Côte District Court, in Nyon .
Before that, this Sunday, December 18, 2022, everyone in the village – and elsewhere – is cozy, their eyes focused on the screens broadcasting the World Cup final between France and Argentina. But as the extensions prepare to begin, the sirens of the gendarmes and rescuers attract the attention of the residents of Châtelard, a residential area between the town and the barracks.
Outside, dismay: a young man is dying on the sidewalk, bleeding, his brass knuckles still in his hand, his fate sealed. “It was quickly explained to me that something terrible had just happened and that this unfortunate man had died,” indicated the trustee, Michel Dénéréaz, a neighbor of the premises, the day after the tragedy. It’s a surreal vision, unimaginable for a village like ours.”
Neighborhood war
After two years of investigationthe veil is now lifted on the circumstances which have remained mysterious until now, almost banal. “The two families, neighboring plots of land in Kosovo, have been blaming each other for various nuisances for several years,” we read in the statement of facts. This conflict led to several confrontations between the two branches of the family, both in their country and in the Lausanne region where some were seen.
The alleged murderer arrived at Bière station on December 18, 2022 shortly after 5 p.m. to go to his home, where his nephew was waiting for him armed with brass knuckles. It was the latter who ultimately died from a stab wound to the chest.

-But the animosity seems to have suddenly escalated in 2022, with several altercations and threats between the two camps in a conflict which appears to have been passed down from fathers to sons. And who finally moved from Kosovo to Switzerland, undoubtedly because the man currently behind bars at the Croisée prison in Orbe found a job there in the Morgian region, as well as accommodation – undeclared – to… Beer.

And the surprise is great when we understand that the latter has since found himself in the shoes of a suspected murderer for having escaped the trap set by his nephew, which he had obviously been preparing for several months.
After a first attempt aborted the day before, due to lack of occupants in the apartment at the foot of the Jura, the plan came to fruition the next day and the story sent chills down your spine. Hidden near a bush, armed with a brass knuckles, a taser and a tool handle, which leaves little room for doubt about his intentions, the deceased hit his eldest a few times.
It was there that he took a Swiss army knife from his pocket, “inflicting one or more blows on the victim, injuring him with three wounds, two on the index finger – with a section of the tendon – and one in the pectoral region. left, at the level of the heart,” further indicates the indictment, which mentions hemorrhages leading to death approximately an hour later.
Arrested at the same time, the 57-year-old uncle will therefore have to answer for murder and violation of the federal law on foreigners and integration (illegal stay and exercise of a lucrative activity without authorization), his expulsion from the territory being more demanded. The brother of the deceased has also filed a criminal complaint and we can sense that the hearing will take place under tension, with the lawyers on both sides refusing to make the slightest comment before it.
Amnesia disputed
Because some gray areas still remain in this case, the implications of third parties in the canton in particular, but it is not certain that the accused will be able to respond to them. He says he suffers from amnesia and “an inability to remember the facts” two years after this tragic evening. Invoking the “lie”, the complainant requested the implementation of a neurological and psychiatric expertise, which was refused by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The village of Bière, for its part, has regained its calm, but certain citizens had legitimately expressed fears about the possible presence of criminals in the town or unsavory affairs. It turns out that his role in this affair comes from a chance accommodation, the scene of this real family tragedy.
