The first liberal deputy to have announced that he would seek the party’s chiefdom, Chandra Arya, will not be part of the race, because he was dismissed by the PLC.

The deputy for Nepean, Ontario, said in a publication on X that he had received the information wanting that he could not be a candidate.
“Today, I was informed by the Liberal Party of Canada that I will not allow me to enter the race for the chiefdom,” he wrote. While I await their official communication, I consider my next actions with caution. ”
“This decision raises important questions about the legitimacy of this race for management and, by extension, the legitimacy of the next Prime Minister of Canada,” he added.
The Liberal Party of Canada confirms that the deputy’s candidacy was rejected under the regulations of the race for the chiefdom, which stipulate that following the analysis of examiners, an application can be rejected for several reasons.
-Party examiners would therefore have had reasons to believe that he “did not meet the compulsory criteria of the regulation or [aurait] demonstrated (due to public declarations, past inappropriate conduct, a lack of commitment to democracy or any risk of reputation or legal risk) than[il] is obviously unfit for the post of party leader ”, according to what can be read in the regulations.
The PLC does not specify, however, what is the exact reason for the rejection of Mr. Arya’s candidacy.
The latter had made waves within the party since its announcement, especially around the fact that it does not know how to express itself in French.
Several deputies had indicated that the next leader of their party should speak the language of Molière, including the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Pascale St-Onge, who had said earlier this month that her candidacy “is not image of our party ”.
“I think he is someone who discredited himself, unfortunately, for the leadership race,” she said in an interview on the show The gameJanuary 14.
