Red carpet, hedge of honor, fanfare, and even Léro, the little blue dragon, official mascot of the town … The many Cannes – 2,500 according to the town hall – who rushed to the palace of festivals and congresses to listen to the wishes of David Lisnard were, this late morning on Saturday, welcomed like kings.
A full room to crack – some even had to stand during the 2 hours 30 hours of ceremony – in which one could note the presence of the police and security as well as many political figures.
Mayors and representatives of many surrounding municipalities (Mougins, Grasse, Mandelieu, Antibes, Vallauris, Pégomas, etc.) but also Senators (Henri Leroy and Jean-Marc Délia) and deputy (Alexandra Martin).
“Our country is not doing well”
2 hours 30 minutes during which the mayor had the opportunity to discuss the upcoming projects. In particular the creation of the Jardin Campetra (which will integrate games for children with disabilities), a new museum in Suquet (dedicated to the collection of contemporary African art of Jean Pigozzi), the construction of a building of 76 housing incorporations A medical center at the Gaieté roundabout, the inauguration of the Saint-Louis autonomy residence (for independent elderly at low income) in April, the construction of a boulevard de la République retention basin, the creation of 'A space campus…
Wishes of peace, of freedom (the mayor spoke of the French detained abroad, while calling for defending artists and freedom of expression), and “Fighting”.
-But also wishes of “Local solidity” – “No municipality can claim to be treated differently by the Cannes Lérins agglomeration”said David Lisnard, referring to the more than tense relationships between Cannes and Le Cannet -, and the wishes of “lucidity”: “Our country is not doing well. We spoil our country and we can no longer agree to see the flagships, the French advantages. We are above all the victim of our internal weaknesses.”
“Never lower your eyes or arms in the face of delinquency”
The opportunity therefore, for David Lisnard (who has, as usual, typed on technocracy and excessive centralization) to evoke his presidential ambition.
“More than ever, I undertake, for Cannes, to never give in to ease, […]never lower your eyes or arms in the face of delinquency, faced with incivism, to those who want […] Impose the law of thugs, to act for the quality of life, prosperity … These commitments, we must also do them at the national level. Cannes is my happiness, France is my duty. More than ever, I am resolved to advance Cannes and bring my stone to the construction of a radiant France, a safe France, a peaceful France. “
Have the power “to expel hlm delinquents”
Yesterday, David Lisnard regretted that the mayors do not have the power “to expel hlm offenders. […] First, to protect the inhabitants. […] To protect society too, to make people understand that when you affect society, you are not protected by society. Then it is a matter of justice, because there are thousands of people waiting for housing, honest people. Seeing social housing co-funded by the taxpayer attributed to thugs while well-waiting people are absolutely scandalous. Society, France, does not have to help those who affect France and spit on France.“
