Via press release, the politician demanded that two debates in French and two others in English take place “as quickly as possible”.

“Everyone deserves to see us debate our ideas and the path forward for our party and our country,” she said.

Chrystia Freeland believes that Liberals across the country must work together to regain the trust of Canadian voters and thus have a chance of winning in the next election.

“To defeat Poilievre, we will have to give everything we have,” says the candidate for PLC leadership.

The latter also wants all candidates in the leadership race to commit to running in the next federal elections, even if they are not elected as party leader.

“By committing to being part of this team for the long term, we can show Canadians that we are not here for ourselves, but for them,” argues Ms. Freeland.

The politician accuses Pierre Poilievre of presenting a vision of Canada “which sows discord, which is cynical and hollow”.

She maintains that faced with an American threat to jobs, the economy and the way of life of Canadians, the Conservative leader is offering a “weak response.”

“We must be united and ready to fight for what matters: a strong economy, good jobs and affordable housing. And we must lead a real Canadian response to the extremist Trump government,” concludes Chrystia Freeland.
