A fire, a priori accidentalwith dramatic consequences. This Friday January 24, 2025around 3:15 p.m., the disaster broke out in an apartment located on the third floor of a building in the rue Bancelin the city center of Melun (Seine-et-Marne).
The preferred accidental cause
According to initial information, the fire was due to an overheating electrical outlet in the kitchen, which ignited a trash can located next to it. This is what will have to confirm or deny technical and scientific policecurrently on site for the purposes of the investigation.
The firefighters intervened on a large scale and the building was evacuated, while the area was closed off to traffic. Residents were gathered, during the intervention, at the Espace Saint-Jean made available by the town hall.
-Two children in absolute emergency
Among the victims are two children at a young age, 1 and 2 years old, from the same siblings. The emergency services performed long cardiac massages before their evacuation to the Robert-Debré hospital in Paris, with vital prognoses committed. A helicopter was mobilized for the transfer. Their mother was hospitalized in Melun. His days are not in danger.
