The National Assembly of Senegal made a major decision this Friday with the official lifting of parliamentary immunity from Mouhamadou Ngom, better known as Farba Ngom. This decision was approved during a plenary session, and as reported by the South Daily newspaper, a large majority of the deputies present voted in favor of this measure.
Of the 165 members of the assembly, 136 actually participated in the election. Among them, 10 exercised their right to vote by delegation. The result was unequivocal: 130 deputies expressed their approval for the lifting of immunity, while only three voted against. In addition, three deputies have chosen to refrain, thus not taking a position on this legislative initiative. These precious data has been confirmed by the information published by our colleagues from Sud Quotidien.
