Elected officials from the Gers departmental council met in an assembly this Friday, January 24, for the first time in 2025.

Support for Mayotte and Golfech

Among the deliberations voted on by departmental elected officials, we will note a contribution of €10,000 to the “Solidarity Mayotte” support fund implemented by the association of Departments of . “In order to provide our assistance to the Mahorais victims of the passage of Cyclone Chido. The situation is catastrophic in this department, it is a question of bringing comfort to our fellow citizens who are going through an unprecedented crisis,” argued President Philippe Dupouy.

Also note the support given by the Department's elected officials to the project to install two new new generation EPR reactors on the Golfech site.

For several months, the local authorities of Tarn-et-Garonne have been carrying out a application of Golfech as part of the national “EPR2” program which provides for the construction of several EPRs. Communities such as the Departments of Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne, the metropolis of and the Region have already given their support to the project.

It's now Gers' turn to position themselves favorably. “This could have many benefits in terms of employment, several thousand,” explained Philippe Dupouy, while calling for vigilance from the authorities responsible for this project on its induced effects: environmental impact and on water resources.
