“The economic crisis is a reality for the Building industry” declares worried Pierre Martin for the wishes of the FFB du Gard

At the headquarters of the FFB du this Thursday, January 23, Pierre Martin, president of the FFB du Gard, accompanied by the regional and national president of the FFB, presented his wishes and his concern for the sector he chairs.

The president of the FFB du Gard, which has more than 1,000 member companies, began by recalling that in concrete terms the building sector was experiencing a major crisis.30% less concrete consumed over the last 12 months, 36% less construction starts in individual houses, 25% less in collectives and finally it is a renovation market which is slowing down.

A crisis to which is added an unstable political context provoking “the hesitation of investors, projects postponed, public investment budgets sacrificed, in short an entire sector of activity in danger.”

A sector that knows “massive job losses, leaving families in precariousness (…) and bankruptcy filings which are starting to multiply”.

However, the FFB has the solutions to revive this sector of activity.”by relaunching public procurement, an ambitious housing policy, particularly social, real simplification and concrete measures for the PTZ throughout the territory and for all types of housing, by reforming the status of the private lessor and maintaining a attractive taxation for renovation.”

Pierre Martin calls on parliamentarians not to increase the charges and levies that weigh on businesses to reduce the state deficit.Construction companies cannot be the adjustment variable for a balance sheet that is not turning around! Building is essential to the good economic health of our country.”

Olivier Saleron, president of the national FFB, tells members that the FFB will play its role of shock absorber and protector. He also calls for the PTZ on all types of housing, the overhaul of rental investment since the end of the Pinel law, the overhaul of the status of private landlord and the modification of the application of the ZAN law for industry, growth and housing.
