Prayer, adventure and service: the three pillars of scout engagement
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January 2025, more than a thousand unitary scouts in France find themselves for an exceptional pilgrimage, connecting Notre-Dame de Paris to Montmartre. Aged 17 to 25 years old, the truckers have chosen to meet to celebrate their commitment. The truckers live their commitment through three fundamental pillars explains Thétime de Larivière, communications manager for the national road team.
Prayer, adventure and service. These values accompany them in their transition to adulthood, allowing them to learn to engage and give themselves.
“This pedagogy is intended to train free adults and committed to the service of the city”. By participating in various activities, these young people become useful and radiant citizens, ready to make their faith shine on a daily basis.
-A pilgrimage of fraternity: the truckers walking towards Montmartre
After a visit to the recently restored Notre-Dame cathedral, the 1050 truckers will walk towards Montmartre. A highlight of fraternity which will conclude with a mass at the Saint-Sulpice church, also bringing together scouts of other movements. This pilgrimage is an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the road, a moment of joy and sharing for all those who have made this path. In September 2024, a study carried out by IFOP for the Association of Seniors and Old Guides and Scouts of Europe, Rasso, revealed that scouting acts as a positive ferment on society.
