The race for the Oscar continues. Co-produced by the company Ikki Films, based in Tours, the animated short Yuck! was nominated for the Academy Awards on Thursday January 23, 2025.
Directed by Loïc Espuche, this thirteen-minute film presents Léo, a little boy on vacation at the campsite, who discovers love life between curiosity and disgust. “It’s a mainstream film”highlights Nidia Santiago, producer.
The other five animated short films nominated are Beautiful Men by Nicolas Keppens, In the Shadow of the Cypress de Hossein Molayemi et Shirin Sohani, Magic Candies de Daisuke Nishio, et. Wander to Wonder by Nina Gantz.
A previous appointment in 2018
This is not the first time that the Tours-based company has seen one of its short films nominated in the prestigious American ceremony. In 2017, Ikki Films co-produced Negative Spacea short film that was nominated for an Oscar the following year.
-With Yuck!Ikki Films hopes this time to walk away with the golden statuette. The short film has also already won awards at various festivals in 2024, such as Chicago and Rio (Curta).
The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on the night of March 2 to 3.
