Formula 1 ended up accepting the arrival of Cadillac, by 2026, but this entry remained temporary.
General Motors has certainly weighed up with all its weight for this reversal of the FOM, threatened with an investigation by the American justice for the refusal of the first project, presented as Andretti F1.
So where is the file? The Cadillac F1 team project is now in the final approval by FIA and a decision is expected “In a few weeks”.
The agreement in principle, as it was qualified at the time, therefore remains to pass the FIA stage, which should be a formality since it had already accepted the Andretti project (refused by the FOM).
The FIA must however re -examine the proposal made by Cadillac on the same basis as the original Andretti project and check that it meets the different criteria established to ensure that the team will be up to par.
“The FIA is currently examining the registration of Cadillac. We are in the last stages of the diligent verification and hope to conclude the process soon,” explains a spokesperson for the FIA in The Race.
-“We work in collaboration and simultaneously with the FOM to ensure the successful integration of a 11th team in the championship.”
“We are in the last stages of this process and we plan to reach a resolution in a few weeks.”
