Lindsay, a 13-year-old schoolgirl victim of harassment, committed suicide at her home in Vendin-le-Vieil, in Pas-de-, on Friday May 12, 2023. Four minors were indicted on Thursday 25 May 2023. His relatives, in shock, testified following this tragedy.

She should have celebrated her 14th birthday on Wednesday. The teenager took her life last Friday, May 12, at her home, after being subjected to harassment. On the side of his relatives, it is amazement.

Insults, messages on the Internet…

“I knew we were bothering her, but I didn’t imagine it was going to go as far as harassment”, testifies her boyfriend at The voice of the North.

The girl’s mother says Lindsay’s harassment started “at the start of the school year in September”. “It was insults in college and it continued by message and on the internet”, she tells our colleagues.

For his part, Lindsay’s uncle tells BFM the constant harassment of which the young girl was the victim: “She was being harassed in the street, at school, at home…”.

Despite multiple appointments with specialists, such as psychologists, the mother does not see a big change: “We no longer recognized her. Even her grades had dropped when she was a good student,” she says.

Many cries for help

This situation was denounced to the management of the establishment of the teenager. Lindsay’s mother filed complaints twice in February.

“We reported the facts, that it was not a trivial story, but it remained unanswered,” laments the teenager’s stepfather.

“I even wrote to the President of the Republic!”, Assures Lindsay’s grandmother, after the sad discovery of a farewell letter from her granddaughter last February.

She was exhausted!

“We want explanations, as parents, we must have answers, we must know what happened”, insists Lindsay’s stepfather in particular on BFM TVcalling for “justice to be done”.

Contacted by our colleagues, the Ministry of National Education assures that “adequate sanctions have been imposed”, recalling that a judicial investigation is underway.
