A few days before the release of his next novel I will take away the fire (now in bookstores) and the highly anticipated final part of his trilogy The country of othersLeïla Slimani was in Paris. She spoke, on this occasion, to Léa Marchetti’s microphone in the podcast Titrea format designed as a place for intimate exchanges.
The writer, winner of the Goncourt Prize in 2016 for sweet songevokes her childhood country Morocco and the messages she wanted to send to her family with this novel. The Franco-Moroccan author also opens up unequivocally about the complexity of dual culture: “It’s very difficult to be both at the same time, you have to constantly change your face (…) We have this feeling of “always be in bad faith”, before returning to the comments of the National Rally around dual nationality during the last elections: “I experienced it very badly, it was extremely hurtful and frustrating (…) we don’t talk enough of the trauma that one part has experienced of the French population during these elections. »
Léa Marchetti has been developing these deep and transparent exchanges in her podcast for over a year. The second season, launched in fall 2024, has already received a cast of 5-star authors, including Vanessa Springora, Fabrice Arfi, Pauline Clavière and Thibault de Montaigu, Interallié Prize 2024. The concept of the podcast is simple: chat with an author of his work through the prism of the title, before broadening the conversation to the whole text. The host, producer and magazine contributor Vanity Fair explains her choice to give voice to authors: “I am convinced that the writing process summons the most intimate aspects of a person. To write is to appeal to one’s whims, to one’s deepest questions. Starting from the text to discuss with an author is a wonderful gateway to a sincere conversation. »
-In recent weeks, the podcast has expanded to authors of stand-up and one-on-ones, the comedian to follow Jessé having already spoken to it, as well as the very funny Alex Ramirès. The podcast continues to grow and will soon welcome musical artists.
