Modeled on the national initiative, MéSA is organizing its third reading night on the theme of water on February 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A solitary activity for many, reading is shared on Saturday February 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Sud-Aveyron media library (MéSA). For this third edition of an event whose initiative comes from the Ministry of Culture and the National Book Center (CNL), the global theme of heritage led MéSA to adopt the theme of water. “It is a common good which is currently at the center of many of the concerns of the Community of Communes, whether for tourism, leisure, agriculture but also work in the town center of Millau”indicates Nicolas Wöhrel, deputy mayor, delegate for culture. Unlike the national event which takes place from January 23 to 26, the MéSA has decided to postpone its activities by one week to avoid encroaching on the dates of the Les Givrées festival until January 25.
On the program this year, nine reading spaces for children and adults spread across the media library and accessible for four hours in a special lighting atmosphere. The evening includes a reading cabin, a story illustration and coloring workshop for the youngest, stories with reading mats, a projection cabin with Zen tales. But also narrative games, a listening space with images and aquatic soundscape and the possibility of aquatic immersion in virtual reality.
Writing with artificial intelligence
In addition to reading and story telling areas, there is also an exhibition on manga and free games linked to artificial intelligence. “The objective is to introduce this type of new technology through a fun game. Some participants will write a text aided by artificial intelligence and others without. The texts will be exhibited and visitors will have to tell the difference. This workshop is a way of raising awareness of the risks of this type of generative intelligence and disinformation”underlines Romain Mericskay, the director of cultural affairs and director of the MéSA.
-Another highlight this year, the media library is joining forces with the Millau-Sagunto twinning committee to offer readings in Spanish. The Myriade association will offer affordable on-site catering and other activities, and Lire et faire lire will be present to run workshops to promote intergenerational links.
