A look back at the competition on January 19.
On the morning of Saturday January 19, the last truffle dog competition of the year took place near the Labastide-Marnhac castle. In cold but sunny weather, 60 dogs came from all over France for a final attempt to qualify for the 2025 French championship. Two main competitions were judged by judges from Lot, Robert Arrighi from Cahors and Colette Le Meny from Sauzet. Result of the competition judged by Robert Arrighi: first, Sunway des Légendes Lorraines, Border Collie belonging to Christelle Nomine de Castillon Saves. Second, Udine de la Schaafraniere, Lagotto Romagnolo in Moreau belonging to Annie de La Couronne; third, Roxa Roona de Wild Willow, Australian Cattle Dog owned by Agnès Ferrant de Marsac. Result of the competition judged by Colette Le Meny: first, Iakari First Blue India de la Villaloubet, Australian Shepherd owned by Florence Leconte de Menespelet; second, Princess Blue Fang, Pyrenees Shepherd belonging to Tamara Jost de Lesmenils; third, Oslo des Bords d'Avène, short-haired dwarf dachshund belonging to Jérôme Lafon of the Lot Kennel Club.
For its part, the Lot championship, rewarded by the Pebeyre Trophy, saw the participation of dogs representing a Lot association. Result: First: Orus du Musher, Belgian Shepherd Tervueren, belonging to Julian Gomez de la Canine du Lot; second, Oslo des Bords d'Avène, short-haired dwarf dachshund belonging to Jérôme Lafon of the Lot Kennel Club; third, Sendy from Loups de l'Atlas belonging to Geneviève Gomez from Canine du Lot. 8 Lot dogs out of 25 French dogs are thus qualified for the French championship which will be held on February 8 in Sorges and Ligueux in Dordogne.
