The State Secretariat for Maritime Fisheries, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, has banned until further notice the harvesting and marketing of shellfish products from the Taourta-Oum Labouir zone in Dakhla. This decision follows alarming analyzes revealing levels of marine toxins exceeding authorized thresholds, particularly in mussels.

These results, provided by the National Fisheries Research Institute (INRH), underline the urgency of this measure, aimed at protecting public health until complete purification of the environment concerned.

To prevent any health risk, the authorities strongly recommend that consumers only purchase shellfish products that are packaged, labeled and available at approved points of sale. Shellfish sold in bulk or through hawking, for their part, do not guarantee any health safety and represent a danger for consumers.

In the meantime, vigilance remains necessary to avoid public health incidents in this strategic area for the maritime economy.
