At the start of the year, Cyclone Chido caused great destruction and the human consequences were disastrous for the inhabitants of Mayotte.

The municipality of Castelginest is in complete solidarity with them. The mayor, Grégoire Carneiro, met the town's Mahorese community. He showed them, on behalf of Castelginest, a surge of solidarity and deep empathy in the face of this ordeal. On the occasion of the national day of mourning on December 23, a minute of silence was observed in tribute to the victims of the cyclone. The town hall had posted links on its website so that residents could make a donation if they wished.

Grégoire Carneiro proposed that, during the next vote of the municipal council, the allocation of a subsidy be voted to help the inhabitants of Mayotte. “Our guidelines at the head of the town hall are efficiency and transparency”, communicates the town hall. “We were elected to act, invest for the future and improve our community living environment.

We are all committed, within the municipal team, to ensuring that a euro spent is a euro useful. It is thanks to this line of conduct that we have been able to achieve since 2020, for the little Castelginestois, for culture, sport, the protection of biodiversity and climate transition, security, solidarity, intergenerational relations, protection of victims of domestic violence, mobility, water quality… This work is a daily effort and we carry it out thanks to the proposals and our work.”

During the next vote of the municipal council, the allocation of a subsidy will therefore be voted to help the inhabitants of Mayotte. Castelginestois who wish to continue their support for the inhabitants of Mayotte can make a donation using the links available on the Castelginest town hall website or request additional information by telephone on 05 61 37 75 37.
