Selon Europa pressthis ambitious project will connect Tarifa to Tangier via a fully electric line in the Strait of Gibraltar.
The establishment of this corridor includes the construction of two electric ferries, and the electrification of the ports of Tarifa and Tangier city.
This new mode of connection will connect the two sides of the strait, on a line which currently transports 1.6 million passengers per year and which, according to Moreno, “could reach four million passengers”.

Being pioneers, being the first, always places Andalusia in a leading position and, in this case, we are the first in this green corridor with 100% electric propulsion thanks to the technology and the economic effort that is made by the port and by the Balearia company”, said Juanma Moreno.
The president of Balearia, Adolfo Utor, as well as those responsible for the port of Algeciras will soon reveal details on the implementation of this corridor.
