“We have difficulty digesting, there is no consideration, no respect from our management towards us.” scolds Jérémy Caravalho-Brandao, logistics technician at Arkema. On January 21, 2025, Arkema France presented to the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) a project to reorganize activities at its Jarrie site, in Isère.
In total, Arkema France announced that 154 jobs could be eliminated on this Isère site.between mid-2025 and the end of 2025“. “That We've been on the picket line for 49 days. OWe are tired and behind them, we get announcements like that. This is unacceptable,” fumes Jérémy Caravalho-Brandao, Arkema employee and CFDT union representative.

For his part, Stéphane Vigne, CGT secretary at Arkema's CSE, is not surprised by this announcement but struggles to accept it: “I am disappointed, disillusioned and above all angry because I do not understand her“. For him, Arkema can maintain its activities despite the absence of salt supplied by its historic supplier, Vencorex, in receivership since October 23, 2024.
“These 154 jobs lost, we wonder where they will go to get them“, criticizes Stéphane Vigne, who denounces “evasive answers“from management. For this CGT delegate, that's it”the sustainability of the site which would be called into question” if these jobs were to be eliminated.
For his part, Damien Christophe, manager of the Jarrie site for Arkema, is reassuring. After expressing his regret for the employees concerned, he attests that “these 150 fewer positions in Jarrie will guarantee the sustainability of the rest of Arkema's activities“.

“These employees will be listened to and monitored on a case-by-case basis. Arkema is a group which recruits 400 jobs in France per year. We will see if these employees are professionally mobile and could occupy one of these positionshe suggests. Otherwise, they will be supported to find employment in the Grenoble area.”
A next CSE is planned on the Jarrie site on Thursday January 23, and another at the Arkema national headquarters on January 29.
