This Tuesday, Arthur Loyd, a national commercial real estate consulting network, released its ranking of the most dynamic metropolises and urban areas in France.
Strasbourg occupies the third place on the podium among major citiesbehind Rennes (1st) and Montpellier (2nd).
Strasbourg the versatile
The Alsatian capital shines above all for its “ versatility by showing himself efficient on several themes“, notes Arthur Loyd in a press release.
Among the successes, we can cite the “numerous establishments of large companies”, the “size of the employment pool”, a “contained but positive demographic dynamic”, the “presence of an international airport and accessibility by the LGV Est”, a “significant higher education offer”, a “good level of equipment in the crèche” or even “excellent results in terms of safety”.
Strasbourg also excels in terms of mobility
But the metropolis also stands out for having invested “considerably in public transport on its own site and in cycle path networks, facilitating daily travel and strengthening accessibility to these areas”.
-In this case, the Strasbourg Eurometropolis is investing nearly 500 million euros for its mandate in mobility and both the City and the Eurometropolis have launched numerous plans in this area: ZFE, REME, bicycle plan, free trams and buses for minors, extensions of the tram network, pedestrian plan, parking reform, etc.
Can do better on housing costs
“The cities at the top of the ranking, although attractive in many areas, are not exempt from room for improvement,” notes Arthur Loyd, however, who mentions in particular the cost of housing with regard to Strasbourg.
On average, the price of old apartments in Strasbourg stands at €3,440/m2, according to figures given by notaries last October. Note that there are strong disparities depending on the neighborhood.
75 indicators scrutinized
To establish his ranking, Arthur Loyd spent 75 indicators to the mill, including public transport, the cost of housing, the environmental framework, insecurity, broadband coverage or the number of business creations.
These 75 indicators were grouped into 14 items and four major themes: economic vitality, business reception and professional real estate, connectivity, human capital and transitions, quality of life.
