At 2 p.m., the president presented himself relaxed and jovial, in front of an assembly of nearly 500 agents present, out of the 750 in the territory in total. This moment of conviviality around the galette des rois was an opportunity for Laurent Suau to thank all the staff, to take stock of the past year and to discuss the prospects for the future.

On this occasion, three agents received medals: Serge Bruguier (gold medal, 30 years of service) Sandrine Aghuilon (vermeil medal, 25 years of service) and Aurélie Raynal (silver medal, 20 years of service).

“Those without whom nothing is possible”

The elected official began by greeting and thanking everyone present alongside him, and even had a word for the retirees or future retirees present. “This moment is made to thank you for your commitment, your human and professional qualities, and for everything you have taught me since I became president. I wish you my best wishes for happiness, health and prosperity “he declared, before adding that “civil servants are sometimes wrongly denigrated, I insist. You are the ones without whom nothing is possible”, he added to conclude his exhaustive list of thanks.

Before discussing the 2025 budget, he underlined the “pride” and the “responsibility” of the entire departmental council in the face of “issues that [les] are waiting and all the work that [‘ils] will have to drive together”.

Budget 2025

“On December 17, the budget was voted on after obtaining a reinforced majority: it must therefore be good”affirmed Laurent Suau in the second part of his speech. He spoke of “150 million euros of operation” and of “50 million investments” for this new year. Concerning the projects, the first magistrate of the department mentioned four major subjects: tourism, culture, the overhaul of the departmental drinking water supply plan, and the IT project.

To conclude the ceremony, Laurent Suau certified: “I am approaching this new year with optimism. We must remain in the same state of mind so that the year 2025 can be characterized by respect, trust and a job well done”.
