Child abduction and assault on Yoane Wissa: was the accused obeying voices?

“I didn’t recognize her, she was panicked, not well at all. I asked him: “Tell me what’s happening!” She said, 'Everything's fine. I'm just upset.' Between two bouts of tears, Patricia G., mother of Laëtitia, recounts this evening of July 1, 2021. It was the evening when the accused burst into Yoane Wissa's house, threw acid in his face before being put on the run by the footballer without being able to reach the floor, where the footballer's baby was sleeping.

“Do you want to come see your little girl?” »

The mother of the accused is light years away from seeing what her daughter attempted. She believes she has been a mother for a few days, and is simply worried, because the child would be hospitalized at the University Hospital due to respiratory problems. Moreover, the previous days, Patricia P. drove her to Rennes so that she could see her daughter. We are then in the middle of the covid crisis. Access to the hospital center is limited. “I was waiting for him in the hall, or in the car.” And on July 2, Laëtitia called her: “Do you want to come see your granddaughter?” I said, 'No, I'll let you take advantage of her. I'll come tomorrow.'

“My life was shattered at that moment”

On July 2, when Patricia. G. showed up at her daughter’s home, “there was a police officer at the door. And my phone rang. It was my son who told me that Laetitia was in detention. I was lost. I didn’t even know where I was.” The police comforted her and made her sit down. She learns that her daughter kidnapped a baby, seriously burned and hit her mother. “My life was shattered at that moment. Why did this happen? I don't understand. During her pregnancy, she told me everything was fine. It's been three and a half years and I still don't understand… Why didn't she talk to me? “. She breaks down in tears.

“Mom, grandpa he touches me”

There were no children. Laetitia would have suffered a miscarriage in December 2020, and misled the whole family while premeditating this infant kidnapping. “Why did she twist like that? », continues her mother, who describes a child “with a very strong, dominant character. She managed to get what she wanted in the end.” She mentions the touching of which Laetitia was allegedly the victim at the hands of her paternal grandfather. “She said to me: 'Mom, Grandpa, he's touching me there.' I asked my father-in-law. He replied: “There was nothing. It’s in Laëtitia’s head.” I didn't believe my daughter. I regret so many things.”

“For me it was real…”

Laëtitia's mother still struggles to realize, today, her daughter's lies. “One day she came to eat. She said to me: “I'm having a contraction.” I put my hand on her stomach, on the skin, and it was as hard as if she was having a contraction. To me it was real… I even felt like she was gaining weight… I feel so guilty… What did I miss with my daughter? »

“Voices that said: There are solutions to everything”

A psychologist met Laëtitia Penvern in detention. She describes a complex personality, who developed low self-esteem and real emotional insecurity due to an “alcoholic, violent, denigrating” father. His grandfather’s touching only made the situation worse.” The inner voices, which the accused says she obeyed, “correspond to an intense devaluation of her person. She describes to me increasingly louder voices, which said (to her): 'There are solutions to everything'.

“Why is she hiding behind her voices? »

The president questions him about the reality of these voices. “I have no reason to question them,” replies the psychologist. The attorney general ticks: “She uses the votes to build her lie! “. The psychologist: “The voices would be the conductor, but around it, there is a part of reality. The two coexist.” The attorney general, not convinced: “Why is she hiding behind her voices to say that she did not try to kidnap a first child (from the home of footballer Yoane Wissa, Editor's note)? Lying predominates in his psyche.”
