From more than ten yearsthe Rotary clubs of La Manche are joining forces to finance a joint operation turned towards the prevention et the treatment of diseases.

Called “The Honey of Hope”, it allows each year, through the sale of pots, to raise funds pour finance and comfort equipment intended for hospitalized, disabled or dependent people.

A virtual reality headset offered to the palliative care service

The previous mobilization of Rotary had made it possible to offer a magic tablet to the geriatrics department of the Valognes hospital, intended to stimulate people suffering from Alzheimer's.

This year, the sale of nearly 5,000 jars helped finance a virtual reality headset which will allow people at the end of their lives to virtually revisit places that are dear to them or to discover sites around the world.

“This project puts blue in the sky”

Designed by a French company, this equipment was offered on Thursday January 16, 2025 to the palliative care department of the Granville hospital (Manche) by Bernard Martin, president of the Rotary club in the presence of caregivers, Doctor Valérie Regnier, head of the department, and the hospital director.

“The stay in palliative care is a source of anxiety, anguish and questions, which are difficult to overcome. The helmet will offer patients a moment of escape which will make their stay more calm, relaxed and serene,” explains Joanny Allombert.
