A few years ago, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau disappeared from the screens for a long period, following a serious illness. The presenter of the 1 p.m. news on TF1 had in fact contracted severe amoebic keratitisan extremely rare eye infection, which kept her off the air for more than five months.
This difficult and uncertain health battle forced her to reinvent her way of working. Upon her return in May 2022, the journalist therefore had to adapt to continue to practice her profession despite the after-effects of the disease.
“When I started coming back to the set to do tests and to test my eye, […] I could only tolerate 30% of the lights on set. There, I took a little blow to the head, saying to myself: 'Am I going to make it? Will it come back? Will I endure again?'”, she explained in We're doing TV again in June 2023. And to add: “There today, I'm at 80%.”
Marie-Sophie Lacarrau: “The illness is behind me”
After a particularly trying period of health, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau today seems to be on the road to recovery. This Tuesday, January 21, 2025, she also spoke to give her news in the columns of TV Magazine.
“The illness is behind me, but yes, the lighting is still dim. I would like to take advantage of your question to say how much all the messages of support helped me through the ordeal. This is also what pushed me to talk about it so much, even though at the start, I was planning to tiptoe back“, she confided before mentioning another subject: her dream of longevity in 13 H Mourousi or Pernaut style.

“Since I started at an older age than them, I'm not sure about longevity! On the other hand, I hope this lasts as long as possible. I take great pleasure in imagining and carrying this journal every day with the team. We can only hope that such a wonderful responsibility continues“, she said.
Touching confidences from the one who, outside the set, “seeks to spend as much time as possible with (s)his family“.
