To strengthen the management of public companies, the President of the Senegalese Republic places emphasis on governance and control methods.

strategic companies must be subject to“rigorous and permanent control” affirmed the president to his government this Monday, January 20, 2025.

Thus, he requires the Prime Minister “a precise list of strategic public companies, including Senelec, PETROSEN, SAR, Air Senegal, FONSIS, the La Poste group and the Autonomous Port of Dakar”.

He made this request at the opening of the conference of public administrators and managers. The list will be used to identify the companies affected by the strict control reform envisaged by the head of state.

The process will allow : “Their modes of governance to be strengthened, in order to establish rigorous and permanent control of their activities and their performances”according to President Faye.

He also asks: “the reactivation of the interministerial committee for monitoring and restructuring companies in difficulty”. The committee will have to detect management flaws and propose appropriate solutions.

This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the resolutions to be taken to improve the public enterprise administration sector in order to optimize their performance.

As the head of state points out: “the very objective of this conference of public administrators and managers is to be a space for dialogue, reflection and strategic orientation”.

For the Government Information and Communications Office, the conference of public administrators and managers focuses on the coherence and effectiveness of public action.

This meeting will become a tradition in order to continue efforts to consolidate control of public companies.

“They decided to establish, in the first quarter of each year, a national meeting bringing together all public administrators and managers.”
