Around 9:15 a.m., Tuesday January 21, 2025, on the D725, at the exit of Airvault, near Les Jumeaux (commune of Assais-les-Jumeaux), a car and a heavy goods vehicle loaded with wheat collided. The ice could be the cause of the loss of control of one of the vehicles.
Departmental road 725 was blocked at the Airvault exit. No vehicle could pass.

The accident left one person injured, the driver of the car, aged 19, who was treated by the firefighters, then transported to the Deux-Sèvres northern hospital center with the assistance of the Smur.
On the other side, at the Jumeaux level, the municipal police and the Department services also prevented access to the road.

The road was blocked by the gendarmes on one side, and the municipal police as well as the departmental council services on the other, to avoid another accident. A diversion was in place all morning.
In total, around ten firefighters from Thouars, Parthenay, Thenezay and Airvault intervened.
