Is the wolf back in Seine-Maritime? It's a hypothesis raised by the prefecture of the department in a press release published this Monday, January 20, 2025. Our colleagues from also pointed out that sheep attacks have taken place.

It was the OFB (French biodiversity office) which made a first report on Friday January 17. Specialists have identified “ the remains of a large canine found on the A131 between Tancarville and , near Sandouville, following a collision with a vehicle (the fractures present on the animal's corpse bear witness to this)”, explain the State services. “The visual findings carried out conclude that there is a strongly “wolf” morphotype,” they add.

Sheep attacks throughout the department

A animal autopsy will take place in the coming days as well as analyzes
DNA within the OFB wolf network. These will provide information
additional information on the individual (in particular their origin), informs the prefecture.
